Partnership

The showcase is day one of 365 days of action. Supporting the brightest designers to develop Impact Design collection with innovative materials, circular design practices and business models by connecting and creating cross-industry partnerships for measurable and scalable impact.

Impact Design Criteria.

Different from sustainable design, Impact Design is about solutions to a design challenge that require measurable impact to be considered a success. Working towards human-centric design, for positive environmental and social outcomes, which includes 4 principles in design innovation.

Materials

Raw materials play a key role in determining the environmental impact for all products. Developing new treatments for materials, including sustainable dyeing methods, and using organic and innovative materials, can dramatically reduce the impact of the entire industry.

Process

Redesigning for the product life cycle through circularity and process design, from recycling, upcycling and recirculation, with the goal of keeping materials and products from ending up in landfills. Circular design is the future of a more sustainable, profitable, efficient industry.

Planet

Taking design inspiration from Nature to reinvest in the planet. Always reducing our use of resources by planting trees, reducing water consumption, using renewable energies, carbon-neutral shipping, and clearing plastics and chemicals from our rivers and oceans.

People

Empowering craftsmanship and cultural respect for local communities through fair pay and working conditions is a beneficial and positive way to elevate our shared humanity. It’s vital to ensure inclusion, diversity, and empowerment of minority groups through contemporary design.

CFS 2020
Selected Brands

Our decision to curate a BIPOC hub is helping us dig deeper and amplify the voices of underrepresented designers. Through exciting design, the selection reflects a future of fashion that is more supportive of local communities, more protective of traditional crafts and more mindful of the planet’s resources.
